Former Soviet Union
This Passover, we ask that you consider the plight of Jews living in the Former Soviet Union (FSU), particularly the 22,500 who live in Kishinev, Moldova, the FSU's poorest country. Many of these men, women and children living their lives in the throes of poverty, putting food on the table often presents a challenge, a challenge which is intensified during Passover. This holiday season, you can make a difference in the life of someone like 78 year-old Sarah Afanasieva, an elderly woman who is isolated and in desperate need of support. With your help, money raised through UJA's Global Seder to Fight Hunger will be allocated through United Israel Appeal Canada to ensure that she and others like her will receive kosher for Passover food allowing her to celebrate the holiday as all Jews should. When it comes to helping those in need, there really is always room for one more at your seder table.
